With the British climate being wet and cloudy throughout the year, we all need the boost of some guaranteed sunshine to raise our spirits.
This is why so many of us look to escape to such Mediterranean destinations as Spain or Greece at least once a year for our holidays. Here most travellers will stay in hotels or self catering accommodation for the duration of their holiday, although many will dream of owning their own Greek or Spanish property to escape to when the mood suits them. This is especially suitable if you fall in love with a particular area, and are happy to return year after year or for long periods of time as an extended holiday
This ideal is not so out of reach for many people nowadays, as property in many Mediterranean countries is still very affordable, especially when compared with the UK. Getting there need not be a problem, as most major UK airports offer regular low cost Mediterranean flights.
Most people would finance their holiday home with a mortgage, although the lucky few may be able to purchase the property outright. The best way to help finance the cost of the property would be to rent it out to other holidaymakers when you are not using it, rather than allowing it to stand empty for long periods of time.
